Understand learning paths
Create guided learning journeys by combining multiple materials into structured sequences.
Admins and Owners can use learning paths to combine courses, policies, and surveys into a required sequence. Use them for onboarding, certification, or another compliance program with multiple steps.
Choose a learning path
Use a learning path when order and shared progress matter:
- Sequential completion: Require learners to finish each step in order
- Conditional logic: Direct learners according to course performance
- Progress tracking: Monitor progress across the complete path
- Unified deadlines: Set one deadline for the path
Compare common use cases
Match the path structure to the broader learning outcome:
| Use case | Example path |
|---|---|
| Employee onboarding | Company Overview → IT Security Policy → Benefits Enrollment Survey |
| Compliance certification | Regulatory Training → Assessment → Policy Acknowledgement |
| Role-specific training | Safety Fundamentals → Equipment Operation → Practical Assessment |
| Leadership development | Management Basics → Communication Skills → Team Building |
Find learning paths
Open Manage > Learning Paths to:
- Search for a path by name
- Filter paths by author
- View each path’s step count, assignment count, and creation date
Path changes after saving
Learning paths support two deadline types:
- No deadline: Let learners complete the path at their own pace
- Single deadline: Set one due date for the complete path
Learning paths do not support recurring deadlines.
Follow the learner experience
An assigned path appears in Learn. The learner can open the current step while future steps remain locked. Completing a step unlocks the next one unless a configured condition changes the outcome. The path completes after the learner completes every required step.
